It doesn’t happen often, but once in a while someone will ask what the significance and story is behind the Integrimark logo.

To understand the logo an understanding of why we chose the name Integrimark for our company is helpful. Integrimark is a blend of two words, also known as a portmanteau word. A portemanteau is a French word for a suitcase that opens in halves. Given that we’re French Canadian we thought it was fitting.

The first part of our name, integri, is an abbreviated version of the word integrity. Integrity is at the core of our family and our business. We’ve long placed great value on honesty and having strong moral principles. We feel it’s a fitting intro word for our portemanteau name.

The back half of our name, mark, is a play on hitting the mark, the mark of excellence, or the mark of perfection.

Our logo is filled with symbolism.

We put a lot of time into its design. We didn’t just want a cool looking logo. We wanted it to represent our vision for our company.

The logo is a made up of six perfect diamond shapes. Three grey diamonds as the base, two dark orange diamonds onto the base, all supporting one bright orange diamond at the head.

The three-diamond base represents the three living generations of our family. Phil and Steve, our owners, are third and fourth generation contractors. Phil has two sons, who he hopes will one day be part of the fifth generation, along with Phil’s future children.

The logo is designed to look like a stealth type jet or rocket pointing to the future. Rockets represent exploration, a journey, or reaching towards something great. The forward tilting of the jet is to represent our visionary outlook, our forward look to the future.

The logo also represents an arrow pointing towards the mark of perfection.

The use of six diamonds is because the number 6 represents perfection. Six is the first perfect number, which is a mathematical term meaning that 6 is both the sum and product of its factors:  1 + 2 + 3 = 6      1 X 2 X 3 = 6

The six diamonds also represent community. Different forms of community. Our team community at Integrimark, our community that includes our homeowners, and the extended community we live in, including the world community. The community representation reminds us of our responsibility to be contributing members of community.

Now for the colours. The three base diamonds are grey to represent stones. Foundational stones reflecting that our company is built on solid ground. The colour orange represents determination, creativity, and enthusiasm, as well as the colour of the sun. We transition from a dark orange to a bright orange to represent our movement forward, towards the sun, towards the future.

You thought it was just a cool logo. Now you know.
